Meet the Trainer

Candie Zavala-Porchas, C.D. is the Food Services Director, Certified Servsafe Instructor and Registered ServSafe Examinator Proctor at Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. She has been with RCFBH since 2001and has a remarcable expertice working with different ethnical backgrounds.

Introduction to Food Service Management

This 9-week, program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the food service industry.

On completion of this course, students will demonstrate an understanding of employment and career opportunities in the food service industry and acquire the skills necessary to obtain ServSafe certification and entry-level employment.

This course will provide participants with the practical knowledge and skills necessary to obtain satisfactory employment.

Topics include: Work Preference and Interest Inventory, Analyzing Transferable Skills, Career Exploration, Creating a Portfolio, Applications, Applying for a Job, Dress for Success and The Job Interview (Mock Interview).

Introduction to Food Service Management


This 16-hours training provides the highest standard of food safety training and certification. The ServeSafe Certification allows food service managers prevent food borne illness by promoting safe food handling. ServSafe Program has evolved to meet the most urgent food safety training challenges in food industry. The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification is reliable and legally defensible since it is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP).

The Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. and Main Street Café cordially invite you to join us in welcoming the participants of our “Cooking with Sabor culinary class. The “Cooking with Sabor ” Program is an initiative established by the RCBH in collaboration with the Yuma Visitors Bureau as part of Yuma County 's Agricultural Tourism's promotion. Our culinary sessions will highlight our local grown agriculture produce and the City of Somerton.

The RCBH/Main Street Café is proud to be part of this exciting opportunity to promote and highlight the history of Somerton and our agriculture industry in Yuma County .
